Grid-Tie solar facts:

The home or business is already connected to utility power lines.
You own the PV power system.
Electric utilities are required by law to "net meter" the power – meaning you can spin your meter backward on sunny days and sell power back to the utility!
Currently you can get paid for the solar you export to the grid for the same rate as you buy electricity from the grid, or 1 :1 ratio

Extending electrical lines from the power grid to a remote site costs approximately $10,000 for every 200meters.
The lack of a connection to utility power makes conservation and efficiency especially important for off-grid systems.
